Scott Satterfield and the Cincinnati Bearcats added a new name to the Class of 2025 with the commitment of three-star linebacker Paul Nelson.
Nelson, a 6-foot-2 linebacker from Ohio, chose the Bearcats over offers from 16 different programs, including Michigan, Illinois, West Virginia, Michigan State, and more.
Coming out of Princeton High School in the Class of 2025, Nelson was listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 1044th-ranked player. He also checked in as the 104th-ranked player at his position and the 42nd-ranked player in the state of Ohio.
“The ultimate decision-maker was the coaching staff, Coach Cortney Braswell was a great host for me,” Nelson told Bearcat Journal’s Keegan Knickoson. “Everything just felt genuine, and everybody just felt real, you know, it felt like home to me. I feel like UC got something going on. The culture there, and the attitude they bring every day to work is crazy. The kids they’re bringing in, the transfers, the other recruits that are coming in with me. I feel like we should turn it around and shock the world. I feel like college football is going to have to come through UC, they’ll have to come see us. So, I feel like that’s why I’m committing. UC has it.”
With his commitment, Nelson became the Bearcats’ 11th addition in the Class of 2025, joining a cast of 10 other three-star prospects.
