While the Big 12 Conference is entering the upcoming season with many teams capable of earning a College Football Playoff bid, a recent list from 247Sports’ Brad Crawford shows one team standing above the rest of the pack.
Crawford predicted each bowl game for the 2024 season on his list, and when it came to the 2024 playoff, he chose the No. 4 Kansas State Wildcats to represent the league against the Oregon Ducks.
Kansas State was one of 11 teams that earned bowl eligibility on Crawford’s list and were joined by West Virginia, UCF, BYU, Arizona, Texas Tech, Houston, TCU, Utah, Oklahoma State, and Kansas.
The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed in the College Football Playoff and would await the winner of No. 12 Liberty and No. 5 Oregon. Crawford predicted that Oregon would advance to face the Wildcats in their second-round matchup.
Kansas State would be led to the playoff with a new quarterback under center in rising sophomore Avery Johnson. The Kansas native has quickly become a household name in college football and is entering the 2024 season with top-10 odds to win the Heisman Trophy.
While the college football season is still the better part of two months away, Avery Johnson and the Wildcats will have an opportunity to compete for a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance in the near future.
