The Minnesota Timberwolves started to look like a snowball gathering size and momentum downhill after knocking off the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets, but they then fell behind 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.
But they managed to avert a sweep and survive for at least a couple more days by winning Game 4, 105-100, in Texas on Tuesday.
Anthony Edwards, one of the league’s newest superstars, led the way with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, which led the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green to praise him for setting the tone for his teammates, per The Volume.

As Green pointed out, with Edwards being aggressive and attacking the paint, his teammates followed suit, and it paid dividends.
Big man Karl-Anthony Towns scored 25 points on 9-of-13 overall shooting and 4-of-5 from 3-point range, and he was also a big key in Minnesota’s season-saving victory.
Earlier in the playoffs, Edwards had three 40-plus-point games, which led people to compare him to Michael Jordan, who is arguably the best player in league history.
He then struggled in the close-out game of the second round versus Denver and the first two games of the current series, but he has now put forth back-to-back games with his usual level of production.
This series will now head back to Minnesota for Game 5, and if the Timberwolves win again, perhaps there will be a trickle of real hope that they could at least force a Game 7, which would also take place in Minnesota.
If it gets that far, perhaps Edwards’ great skill and chutzpah will allow his team to become the first in NBA history to win a series after falling behind 3-0.
