  • The Minnesota Timberwolves return home to face the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, looking to avoid elimination.
  • Minnesota won Game 4 in Dallas on Tuesday night behind 29 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists from star Anthony Edwards.
  • Read below for our favorite same-game parlay for Game 5.

Minnesota managed to avoid getting swept by posting an exciting 105-100 win in Dallas on Tuesday night. This Western Conference Finals series between the Mavericks and Timberwolves has been intense, with each game decided by fewer than 10 points. Can Minnesota send the series back to Dallas for Game 6 on Saturday? Tune in to TNT at 8:30 p.m. ET tonight to find out!

Best Mavericks vs Timberwolves Same-Game Parlay

  • Timberwolves moneyline
  • Anthony Edwards over 7.5 rebounds
  • Naz Reid over 11.5 points

As of Thursday morning on BetMGM, this 3-leg same-game parlay had +525 odds. I believe Minnesota is going to show up at home, even though it hasn’t played well in the Twin Cities so far this postseason. Anthony Edwards showed signs of life with his almost-triple-double in Game 4. If he can continue to play well and the Timberwolves get a little bit more out of Karl-Anthony Towns, they should be able to force the series back to Dallas for Game 6.

Though Edwards has mostly struggled to score (by his standards) in this series, he hasn’t let it affect other aspects of his game. He’s been surprisingly solid on the glass so far, recording 8+ rebounds in 3 of the 4 matchups vs. the Mavericks. He’s made crashing the boards a priority, and I expect that to continue on Thursday night.

As for Reid, the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year, Game 4 was one to forget. He only scored 6 points in 20 minutes as he was largely ineffective. I’m writing that off as a 1-game blip, though. He has scored 12+ points in the other 3 games of the series, and in fact has scored 14, 23 and 15 points. That’s plenty of breathing room for a 12+ point bet.

Expect the Mavericks to keep this game close. All 4 of the games thus far have been decided by fewer than 10 points. That means Edwards and Reid will be counted on throughout the contest, allowing them to put up the stats they need for this bet to win.

The Timberwolves are 4.5-point favorites heading into Game 5, as oddsmakers seem to agree with me that this series will go at least 6 games. Minnesota is a -190 moneyline favorite, with Dallas’s odds checking in at +155. The over/under for Game 5 is set at 209.5 points, with equal -110 odds on both the over and the under.

Mavericks vs Timberwolves Injury Report

Both teams are fairly healthy heading into Game 5, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some injuries to report. Here’s a look at the health situation heading into tonight’s game:

Team Player Injury
Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic Right Knee/Left Ankle
Dallas Mavericks Dereck Lively II Neck Sprain
Dallas Mavericks Olivier-Maxence Prosper Left Ankle
Minnesota Timberwolves Mike Conley Jr. Right Leg

Yes, Luka Doncic is listed on the injury report, but he’s played in all 4 games thus far and it would be a massive shock if he didn’t suit up for Game 5. Dereck Lively II, who has been important for the Mavericks as a rookie, is questionable. Olivier-Maxence Prosper has been officially ruled out with an ankle sprain.

For Minnesota, Mike Conley Jr. remains on the injury report and is designated as questionable with a right soleus injury.  However, he played in Game 4 and didn’t seem to re-injure his leg, so it seems more likely than not that he’ll at least start in Game 5.
