The Jets added some depth on the defensive line on Thursday, signing defensive end Takk McKinley.
McKinley, 28, took part in the Jets’ minicamp this week as a tryout player and did enough to earn a contract.
McKinley was a first-round pick by the Falcons in 2017.
Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was Atlanta’s linebackers coach at the time.
McKinley stayed with the team until November 2020 when he was waived.
He played 11 games for the Browns in 2021 and four games for the Rams in 2022.
He was on the Cowboys last offseason but did not play a game for them.
McKinley has 98 tackles, 20 sacks, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 64 career games.
The Jets announced that players will report for training camp July 23 with the team’s first practice July 24.
The first practice that will be open to fans is July 27.
They also will have open practices July 30, Aug. 3, Aug. 7, Aug. 13 and Aug. 20.
In addition, there is an open joint practice with the Commanders on Aug. 8.
The joint practice with the Giants on Aug. 21 is only for season-ticket holders.
