Following the commitment of Illinois transfer Coleman Hawkins to Kansas State, the Field of 68 Podcast posted a video on social media discussing the addition to Jerome Tang’s roster.
With Hawkins being an elite trash-talker and social media presence in college basketball, Jeff Goodman and Rob Dauster highlighted their excitement level surrounding the 2024-25 Sunflower Showdown matchup between Hawkins and Kansas‘ Hunter Dickinson.
“I will also say, and it’s the elephant in the room,” Dauster said. “I think the one game that I want to be at this year is Coach Cal returning to Lexington, right? I think not all that far behind is Coleman Hawkins and Kansas State facing off against Hunter Dickinson and Kansas.”
Dauster and Goodman highlighted the elite level of back-and-forth trash talk between Hawkins and Dickinson and mentioned that the matchup between Kansas and Kansas State is going to be must-see TV in both Manhattan and Lawrence.
Hawkins became a massive addition for the Wildcats on Friday, filling out the 13th and final scholarship for Jerome Tang’s 2024-25 roster. The senior forward spent the previous four seasons with Brad Underwood at Illinois and will now head to the Big 12 Conference for his final season of eligibility.
