College football quarterbacks poised to silence critics during 2024 season

The quarterback position comes with greater scrutiny than any other spot on college football rosters, and deservedly so as signal-callers serve the most important role on their respective teams. But with great expectations often comes sizable disappointments, and such was the case for a significant group of college football’s most highly-touted quarterbacks during the 2023 season. Bounce-backs are in store for some of those arms, though, and breakthroughs are near for others as the 2024 campaign approaches.

KJ Jefferson and Kyle McCord headline the former starters at high-end programs to seek new opportunities this offseason through the transfer portal, and their changes in scenery could allow them to reach their lofty ceilings. Former blue-chip recruits like Penn State’s Drew Allar could also provide the breakthrough season many expected to come earlier in their careers.

While not every quarterback will silence their doubters this season, some are likely to do so in convincing fashion.
