The Boston Celtics are very close to winning another championship, which would be cause for celebration for all Celtics fans and an infuriating moment for everyone rooting against them.

The team is one of the most historic and popular but it has plenty of detractors, including Los Angeles Lakers fans.

One former Lakers player, Lamar Odom, doesn’t want to see the Celtics win the title, partly because of Lakers pride and partly because he doesn’t want to see a one-time opponent happy.

“I know Paul Pierce is happy and it kind of makes me sick to see him gloat and be that happy because that team is about to win,” Odom said, per Dave McMenamin (via NBACentral).

Pierce is one of the most famous Celtics players of all time and is currently a TV commentator who shares his opinions about the league throughout the season.

Over the last few weeks, he has been very proud to see his former team get closer and closer to winning the championship.

He has a strong belief that they will pull it off and he isn’t alone.

Odom doesn’t want to see the Celtics win because he knows how satisfied Pierce will be but he also doesn’t want to see them surpass the Lakers.

Right now, both teams have 17 championships but if the Celtics win they will hold the most in NBA history.

Because the Celtics and Lakers have been rivals for decades, this would be a painful blow for Los Angeles.

Despite Odom’s wishes, the Celtics are still favorites to win the Finals and Pierce could be very happy in just a few days.

However, after Boston’s gigantic loss on Friday night, the Mavericks now have a chance of claiming history and making him very upset.
