‘Jannik Sinner wasn’t physically ready’, says former star

Former Italian player Francesca Schiavone, former World Number 4 and 2010 Roland Garros Champion and a finalist for the next edition of the Paris tournament, is now shaping the future of tennis.

The former Italian tennis player has recently announced the birth of a new project in Varese, the ‘Schiavone team Lab”, a laboratory that will start from September and will take care of breeding and growing the champions of the future, inculcating the values of sport.

Interviewed at the microphones of Sport Mediaset the Milanese spoke about the chances of victory of Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon and the great exploit in the last period of Jasmine Paolini: “I can say that Sinner on grass is the favorite.

I don’t mean to put pressure on it, but because it has characteristics suitable for this surface, it has an important timing on the ball. He arrived in Paris who was not ready from a physical and training point of view, but nevertheless he arrived in the semifinals, reaching an extraordinary result.

At Wimbledon instead, once back home, after celebrating with his family the first position in the world, he started working and we have already seen him in some shots. I think he has the game to win it, or at least get closer to it, because he deserves it.

He’s an amazing guy, he became an example for everyone, even us old tennis players,” she explained.

Jannik Sinner doesn’t want to stop

It will be difficult not to be carried away by the emotions even for a boy always projected to the future as Jannik Sinner. Tomorrow, at the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, the Italian will play his first match as the world’s number one and will try to start the season on the grass with a win to prepare Wimbledon in the best way.

Francesca Schiavone also talked about another all-Italian star, Jasmine Paolini, who went to a dream step at Roland Garros, stopped only by the phenomenal Iga Swiatek: “Jasmine has been very good since the first rounds in Paris for how well the ball moved. She has grown to believe in herself.

It was hard to imagine winning Facing Swiatek in this state of form, but making a Grand Slam final is extraordinary, and it is even more so than in our time,” Schiavone added.
