Tim Brando, FOX Sport’s play-by-play broadcaster, talked with Heartland College Sports about which new Big 12 teams he was most intrigued by.
Four teams will be making the move to the conference, including Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah.
“I love both Utah and Arizona. I think they are going to have really good years,” Brando acknowledged. “I’ll give a slight edge to Arizona because of the intrigue without Fisch as head coach.
Star QB Cam Rising missed all of last season with an injury, but Brando has high expectations for the Utes with Rising expected to be ready for the season opener.
“I think we know what Utah is all about, Brando mentioned. “But they’ve been really good for a really long time and I think Utah comes in thinking they can win it right away.”
Even though Arizona will be under new leadership with head coach Brent Brennan, Brando said, “they’ve got a lot of talent coming in and I think we will learn a lot, I mean a heck of a lot about them in that first big Friday game that FOX has scheduled.”
With Oklahoma and Texas off to the SEC, Brando believes Oklahoma State can take a big jump and contend for the Big 12 title. “I think it’s understandable for them in Stillwater to believe that ‘hey we’re the big dogs now.”
