The Green Bay Packers didn’t have to wait for long to get their new quarterback.
In fact, they didn’t even have to wait for a single day.
Jordan Love took the reins of the team as soon as Aaron Rodgers walked out the door, and while the results weren’t there right away, he proved to be the guy they needed for the future.
With that in mind, The Athletic insider Matt Schneidman revealed that it’s just a matter of time before he gets a big bag of money.
Talking to Kay Adams on her Up & Adams Show, Schneidman reported that Love would probably get something close to $50 million per year, and while that might seem like a lot because he hasn’t played that much, that’s just the current state of the market.

That’s right, and that contract might end up being a bargain two years down the line, as the salary cap keeps rising, and every quarterback resets the market every single time they sign a new contract or extension.
Love was the best quarterback in the game in the final six weeks of the regular season, and while he didn’t close out the campaign on a high note with his final couple of throws against the San Francisco 49ers, he was the main reason why they made it that far in the first place.
Also, given this franchise’s track record of success with quarterbacks, it would be wise to give them the benefit of the doubt if they truly believe Love is their guy.
