There is no more exciting transfer this offseason than Caleb Downs, who exploded in 2023 as college football’s premier freshman and instantly became the heart of the vaunted Ohio State defense. Downs led Alabama with 107 tackles in his first year of eligibility and added 3.5 tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery. That kind of production would be outstanding for a veteran standout, let alone a true freshman. Any kind of step forward in 2024 would solidify Downs as a superstar.
