Nick Castellanos HR after Joe Biden election news made bettors money

Nick Castellanos has a special penchant for hitting dingers at the same time people are least thinking about baseball or home runs.

Whether it’s somber news or major breaking news, if the Philadelphia Phillies are playing, chances are Castellanos is about to go deep. Or at least that’s how it’s been seeming lately.

So when Joe Biden announced Sunday he was dropping out of the U.S. presidential election — at the same time the Phillies were in action against the Pittsburgh Pirates — a lot of bettors figured it was worth a shot to see if Castellanos might be up to his old tricks.

You can’t make this stuff up.

To some, that was just a meaningless home run to extend Philadelphia’s lead by one in the final inning. To others, though, it was a “drive to deep left field by Castellanos.” The latest in a string of bizarre homers that started during an apology by former Reds announcer Thom Brennaman and continued the day Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt.

And screenshots of live bets on social media show bettors were prepared.
