INDIANAPOLIS — At Big Ten Media Days this week, whenever the side chatter turned to recruiting, the discussion centered around questions of the future. What would happen with scholarship limits going to 105? With the transfer portal, does recruiting even matter any longer? Can teams in the bottom half of the Big Ten’s recruiting rankings even compete with the expanded conference?
I must admit, the thought of going on Big Ten Network for Signing Day and discussing 18 schools who now have 105 scholarships and could be signing classes of 40 recruits does keep me up at night.
My answer on whether high school recruiting matters, though, was, “Look around.”
