New York Jets Sign Former K-State QB, UFL MVP Adrian Martinez

Former Kansas State quarterback Adrian Martinez is heading to the NFL as a member of the New York Jets.

Martinez spent one season in Manhattan after four seasons with Nebraska and was a major contributor to a Kansas State team that won the Big 12 in 2022.

Martinez took home United Football League Most Valuable Player honors this season by leading the Birmingham Stallions to the United Football League Championship Game, where they claimed the inaugural title.

The California native posted some incredible stats in 2024, leading the league in rushing yards, finishing third in passing yards, second in passing touchdowns, second in all-purpose yards, and tied for the league-most in touchdowns scored. The former Wildcat threw for 1,749 yards, ran for 528 yards, and accounted for 18 total touchdowns (15 pass, three rush).

After transferring from Nebraska to Kansas State in 2022, Martinez helped lead the Wildcats to a Big 12 Championship in tandem with new Ohio State quarterback Will Howard. Martinez sustained some injuries as a senior but finished off his Kansas State career with 1,261 passing yards, 627 rushing yards, and 16 total touchdowns in limited games.

He is now set to join a Jets quarterback room that features veteran signal-caller Aaron Rodgers, who is set to return from a ruptured Achilles. Martinez will head to New Jersey for training camp and will be seen sporting a green jersey for the foreseeable future.
