Andy Roddick mocks Roger Federer: “Nobody likes him!”

The former American tennis player Andy Roddick – winner of the 2003 US Open – mocks Swiss legend Roger Federer, about the 2023 Wimbledon semifinal. Roger talked about the 2003 Championships semifinal between him and Andy Roddick and how that match could have changed their rivalry.

“I think probably if he had beaten me in the 2003 Wimbledon semifinal, I would have thought I couldn’t win Wimbledon and I would never win Wimbledon. Anyway, Andy is a great guy, he knows that. He’s the best and I love his podcast as well,” said Federer.

And Roddick’s immediate response was not lacking on his X account: “It doesn’t matter. Nobody likes Roger anyway! That said, I think we would still let him be on my podcast. He can do it for me because of all the titles he took away from me!” Roddick wrote ironically.

In the latest episodes of his podcast, Roddick also talked about Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. The Spanish tennis player, at 38, returned to the circuit this year after an injury, for what would appear and could be his last season as a professional.

His recent appearance at the Paris Olympics against Novak Djokovic was evidence of how the Spanish champion has now lost the physical form of his best times, due to all the injuries suffered in the last 18 months. Despite this, Nadal seemed rather annoyed after the umpteenth question from journalists about his retirement.

“I can’t analyze every day whether or not it can be my last match. It seems like you want to retire me every day, give me a little more time,” said the 22-time Grand Slam champion, after the Olympic Games.

Roddick intervened on the topic, making some statements about the Spanish tennis player’s possible farewell to tennis. While waiting for Nadal to confirm his participation in the next US Open, Roddick declared on his podcast Served With Andy Roddick that he doesn’t believe the Spaniard can still compete at a high level and aspire to relaunch himself.

“I find it hard to believe he will bounce back and try to make another run at the French Open, but I’ve been wrong about him before and every analyst who has an opinion, we’re just guessing. We don’t know, we’re not in his inner circle. He certainly doesn’t come out on top like the greatest players of all time. I can’t understand him, I don’t know if he wants to compete for the title in Bastad. I don’t know if this is his path. We’ll see. We’re all better when he’s around. Hopefully we’ll see him back in the big finals. I don’t know. I feel like this could be the end. The Laver Cup could be a celebration,” he said.

Moving on to Djokovic, the Serb’s numbers in recent years are legendary. Nole started behind Federer and Nadal but with work and dedication he managed to surpass them, making it clear that he is the GOAT. 24 Grand Slam titles, an endless series of victories between ATP Finals and ATP Masters 1000 and the desire to never give up. This year Djokovic had won 0 titles, and for many he was on the decline.

The defeats against Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz had made even his fans doubt and in the final everyone saw him almost done for. Djokovic once again proved everyone wrong and offered a monumental performance in the Paris Olympics final. He did it despite his weakened knee, despite having in front of him the strongest tennis player in the world at the moment (Carlitos Alcaraz). But Nole gets excited in difficult moments and many on social media have celebrated his greatness.

Roddick was clear and sent a message about his victory against Alcaraz.

“I see Willpower. There’s no way to explain the effort I just saw from Nole. GOAT! To have one last chance to tell everyone what your priority is and play it to the best of your ability. We’re all lucky to see that, it’s objective,” said the American.
