College football is back! The 2024 season begins with a four-game slate on Saturday, August 24, headlined by an ACC showdown in Dublin, Ireland.

The Florida State Seminoles, fresh off a perfect regular season in 2023, take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium. Oddsmakers have pegged FSU as a 12.5-point favorite, with the total set at 56 points.

Stateside, the SMU Mustangs make their ACC debut with a road test against the Nevada Wolf Pack. SMU enters as a hefty 27.5-point favorite. In other action, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors host the Delaware State Hornets in a battle of FBS vs. FCS. Hawaii is laying a massive 38 points, and the talent gap is undeniable.

There are four games on the College Football Week 0 schedule, all taking place on August 24th. The heaviest favorite is Hawaii at -38 in its late-night matchup with Delaware State.

Florida State vs Georgia Tech Prediction

The Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are set to open the 2024 college football season with a highly anticipated Week 0 matchup in Dublin, Ireland. Currently, FSU is a heavy 12.5 to 13-point favorite over Georgia Tech, with the over/under set at 54.5 to 56.5 points depending on the sportsbook.

The Seminoles, who went undefeated in the 2023 regular season before being left out of the College Football Playoff, are looking to make a statement right out of the gate. While FSU is deservedly a heavy favorite, I’m eyeing the over on the 56.5-point total as my best bet.

Yes, the Seminoles have a new quarterback in DJ Uiagalelei, but the Oregon State transfer brings a wealth of experience and a track record of production. He should thrive in head coach Mike Norvell’s offense, especially with weapon Malik Benson at wide receiver.

On the other side, Georgia Tech returns a potent rushing attack led by Jamal Haynes behind a veteran offensive line. Haynes topped 1,000 yards in 2023, and the Yellow Jackets ranked 12th nationally in rushing. They’re going to move the ball and put up points, even against a talented Seminoles defense.

In a game featuring two explosive offenses and some question marks on defense, I’m backing the over. Florida State will get theirs through the air, Georgia Tech will pound away on the ground, and we should see a high-scoring affair in Ireland. Lock in the over on 56 points as your best bet for CFB Week 0.

Delaware State vs Hawaii Odds & Picks

The Delaware State Hornets face a daunting task in Week 0, traveling over 5,000 miles to battle the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. The oddsmakers have set Hawaii as a massive 37.5-point favorite, and I’m not about to argue with that.

Yes, this is a historic opportunity for Delaware State, but history won’t help them contain Hawaii’s high-powered passing attack. Quarterback Brayden Schager is back after a 3,500-yard, 26-touchdown season, and he’s got his top six receivers returning. Good luck slowing down that aerial assault.

On the flip side, Delaware State failed to hit the 20-point mark in eight of 11 games last year against FCS competition. Now they’re facing a 10-hour flight, a six-hour time change, and an amped-up Hawaii crowd. I don’t see the Hornets putting up much resistance.

Trends also point toward laying the big number with Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors are 8-5-1 ATS at home under head coach Timmy Chang, while the Under has hit in 10 of those 14 contests. I’m backing Hawaii -37.5 and leaning toward the Under 55.5 as well.

In a mismatch like this, it’s best to side with the overwhelming favorite. Hawaii’s talent edge is massive, and the intangibles are all in their favor. Lay the points, trust the trends, and expect the Rainbow Warriors to roll in this unique Week 0 showdown.
