After a legendary 23-year career during which he established himself as the consensus greatest player in NFL history, Tom Brady retired and is now prepping for his second act as an “NFL on Fox” color commentator.

He will call games alongside Kevin Burkhardt as part of Fox’s top broadcast crew, and there have been indications that he will do very well in his new gig.

Brady was asked who he thinks the top five quarterbacks are right now in the NFL, with Patrick Mahomes being No. 1, and he named Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, and he seemed to agree with Smith that Aaron Rodgers is also on that list.

Just about everyone agrees that Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league these days, and with three Super Bowl championships in the past five years and two in the last two years, he’s rapidly climbing the list of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

Allen and Burrow are consistently on the best current QB lists of many, but for different reasons.

While Allen is an outstanding dual-threat signal-caller who had a whopping 15 rushing touchdowns last year, Burrow is always cool and composed no matter the circumstances.

Jackson, like Allen, is an excellent dual-threat QB, and in 2023, he won his second league MVP award while leading the Baltimore Ravens to the best record in all of football.

Rodgers is an interesting choice, as he won back-to-back MVPs in 2020 and 2021 but is coming off the torn Achilles he suffered in Week 1 last season.

He has 15 years of wear and tear as a starting NFL quarterback, and thus, plenty are skeptical that he can still play at a high level, although some seem to believe he will do well enough to turn the New York Jets into winners.
