Erling Haaland will have an opportunity to add to his record of scoring against all 22 different opponents that he’s faced in the Premier League when Manchester City play Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.
Manchester City will face Ipswich Town this weekend in the Premier League, and Erling Haaland will hope that he makes Pep Guardiola’s starting XI for the match at the Etihad Stadium.
With Ipswich playing in their first Premier League season since 2001-02, this is the first opportunity the Norwegian has had to face the Suffolk side since he arrived in England from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. Ipswich would become the 23rd different opponent that Haaland has faced in the Premier League, and it could help him add to the selection of clubs he has scored against.
As it stands, Haaland has scored at least one goal against all 22 different Premier League teams that he’s faced – one of only two players to have played against more than one opponent and scored against every one of them. However, Haaland is still some way from replicating the feats of Harry Kane, who scored against all 32 sides that he’s faced in the Premier League.

Kane may hold that particular record, but his efforts are still below those of 16 other players in Premier League history who have scored against more different teams (though these players have failed to score against some, too).
Frank Lampard has the Premier League record for scoring against the most opponents. He scored versus 39 different clubs, which is one more than Andrew Cole’s tally of 38 teams. Lampard was helped by facing 44 different teams – four more than Cole managed across his Premier League career.
Alan Shearer scored against 37 of the 39 teams he played against in the Premier League, only failing to score goals versus Birmingham City (two appearances) and Watford (one), which is the same tally as Jermain Defoe (played 40 opponents, scored against 37).
Thierry Henry was another player who once held the record of scoring against every opponent he’d faced in the Premier League. The Frenchman scored against all 34 of the different teams he’s played against in the Premier League across his first spell at the club between 1999 and 2007. However, he returned to the club on a short-term deal in early 2012 and failed to score in an appearance against Swansea City – the first, and only, time he played against the Welsh side in the competition.
