Oklahoma scores massive win for five-star OT Michael Fasusi

Oklahoma won out for one of the nation’s top offensive linemen and best overall prospects in Texas, securing a commitment Wednesday from Michael Fasusi. The five-star offensive tackle from Lewisville (Texas) chose the Sooners over offers from FloridaMissouriOregon, Texas and Texas A&M, among others.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Fasusi is 247Sports’ No. 27 overall prospect, No. 5 offensive tackle and No. 8 player in Texas for the 2025 class.

What does Fasusi bring to the Sooners? We’ve got the details:

WHAT MICHAEL FASUSI SAYS ABOUT OKLAHOMA

“Coach (Bill) Bedenbaugh. You want to talk about development, you want to talk about relationships, you want to talk about someone you consider a father figure, that’s coach B. He’s been a big part of my recruitment and I’m grateful for him. I’m grateful for the part he’s played in me and my family’s life. He reaches out to us a lot of times. I just have love for coach B and he’s one of the best offensive line coaches by far. You can check out the numbers and see what he’s done. He’s been humble despite what people say about him. He never talks about it, and that’s what I love about coach B.”

WHO ELSE WAS IN THE MIX?

Texas and Texas A&M were the runners up for Fasusi, who entertained offers from 37 schools. Missouri, Florida and Oregon also made a big impression on him. In the end, it came down to a regional battle between the Texas schools and Oklahoma. Texas had the momentum for Fasusi throughout the spring and early summer, garnering several 247Sports Crystal Ball picks, but Oklahoma was able to win out thanks to the relationship with Bedenbaugh and the overall recruiting effort from the Sooners.

HOW MICHAEL FASUSI FITS WITH OKLAHOMA

A potential cornerstone piece for an offensive line unit, Fasusi is a franchise left tackle prospect who can be a multiyear starter with a significant NFL future. Fasusi’s athleticism will aid Oklahoma’s passing attack, and his ability to move and engage defenders in space should fit well with what Oklahoma loves to do in the run game.

WHAT WE THINK OF MICHAEL FASUSI

Fasusi debuted as a Top247 prospect in April 2023. After a productive offseason and strong junior year, Fasusi reached five-star status in May of 2024. The 247Sports scouting report on Fasusi reads as follows:

“Gifted O-lineman with true book-end tackle potential. Possesses excellent physical tools and promising athletic context in track and field and combine testing categories. Legitimately 6-foot-5 with long arms and a big reach. Wears mass well and owns space to add more bulk. Multi-sport athlete with 50+ shot put and 150+ discus prowess. Grew up playing soccer and is young for the 2025 cycle. Similarly explosive metrics in vertical and broad jump relative to OT projection. Shows foot quickness and agility to live on an island in pass protection. Nimbleness translates to movement ability in the run game. Flashes some punch power that should become more consistent with continued development. Improved phone-booth strength from sophomore to junior year. Length and athleticism help in recovery vs. twitchy edge speed, but will need to continue technical development to match P4-caliber foes at point of attack. Somewhat high-cut build and plays upright at times. Getting more comfortable as a convicted block-finishing presence, but can still unleash more mean streak. Entering senior year, looks like one of the nation’s top 2025 offensive tackle prospects. Projects as a high-major multi-year starter with physical and athletic specs that suggest early-round NFL Draft upside.”
