The Texas Longhorns looked every bit of the nation’s best team on Friday night after burying the Baylor Bears in home runs en route to a 14-3 (F/5) win.
No. 1 Texas (47-6) went yard five times in the win and tallied 13 total hits, with three Longhorns logging multi-hit games. The UT offense came out white-hot in this game, putting up six runs in each of their first two innings, building a 12-0 lead before Baylor even went through the lineup.
On the day, Texas went 13-of-25 (.520) at the plate and 5-of-9 (.556) with runners in scoring position. Bella Dayton led the way for the Longhorns’ offense with two hits and four RBI in three plate appearances.

Teagan Kavan drew the start for Texas, going 4.0 IP with two strikeouts, two walks, and three hits allowed in her appearance. Sophia Simpson finished out the final frame for the Longhorns but struggled to maintain control with three wild pitches, three walks, and three earned runs on one hit.
The victory moves Texas to the Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday night, where they’ll face No. 2 seed Oklahoma (48-6) in what will be one of the most-anticipated conference championships in the country.
Texas took down the Sooners two games to one in a three-game series in Austin back in April. In fact, a loss to OU in the first game of that series was the last time that the Longhorns lost, and that was all the way back on April 5.
With the way the two teams are playing, there is a chance that they could see each other again in Oklahoma City, and it could be with everything on the line once again.
Meanwhile, the Baylor Bears (32-20) will wait to see where they end up next week in the NCAA Tournament. As the No. 17 team in RPI, the Bears are a lock to land somewhere in the Field of 64, but are very likely going to be on the road for the entirety of their postseason run.
