October 19, 2024 — Journey’s end, the first of many

Today, the first of more than 30 state championship games of this fall season took place in Wisconsin, as the WHSFHA title game took place at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.

Now, Wisconsin has historically had some of the smallest participation, team-wise, in the country, but have sent some quality players to the next level over the years.

Some of these players attended at Hartland Arrowhead (Wisc.), who was looking to win its second straight state final.

Arrowhead prepared for its season with a four-game stint at the Gateway Classic, one of the more important scholastic field hockey tournaments in the United States, fashioning a 1-1-2 record. The Warhawks would run the table in its regular-season schedule, then got through the bracket to the final.

Today’s game wound up being a 3-1 win over Milwaukee Divine Savior Holy Angels (Wisc.). Goals were scored by Emmy Berger, Paxtyn Showers, and Emmie Finke. It was the second straight state title for Arrowhead.
