Bubba Watson speaks candidly about his experience on LIV Golf and his relegation

Bubba Watson, a well-known name among golf fans, has experienced a huge decline in recent months and years. Things have gotten so bad that the former two-time Masters champion ended the LIV Golf season in a relegation zone. Nothing seemed to go right for the golfer this season, and despite being the team captain, Watson was dropped from LIV Golf due to specific rules set by the league’s officials. However, the seasoned golfer remains determined to make a comeback on this tour and showcase his skills once again.

Currently, his intention is to participate in the Asian Series, and he’s excited about the opportunity that has arisen in Indonesia. Watson has never hidden his love for Asia, particularly enjoying the chance to experience the diversity of cultures and the richness of the region. He is embracing this new adventure with LIV Golf, fully aware of the tour’s goal to globalize the sport and make a significant impact worldwide.

“As everyone knows I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments overseas and so I am really excited about playing in Indonesia for the first time,” Watson said, as quoted by Express.

“I enjoy coming to Asia and soaking in the sights and sounds and also seeing the diverse mixture of players out here.

The BNI Indonesian Masters plays a big part in The International Series, which provides a pathway onto the LIV Golf League. I’m a big believer in LIV Golf and I’m proud of the impact it has had on the game of golf worldwide.”

Bubba Watson expressed his thoughts on his current standing in the sport by stating that he has encouraged his team to make decisions based on his performance. He made it clear that if they feel he isn’t performing well enough, they are welcome to replace him with another talented golfer. Despite this, Watson is committed to continuing his career as long as he is allowed to play.

45-year-old Bubba Watson has taken on the role of team captain, aiming to guide both younger and more experienced golfers in the right direction. However, this season has not been focused for him; his performance has fallen short of what fans have come to expect, and the reasons behind this decline remain unclear.

Despite the challenges he faces, Watson refuses to let frustration and disappointment define his experience. He remains hopeful about returning to the highest level of competition soon. LIV Golf offers numerous opportunities for players to secure their place on the Saudi-backed Tour, and Watson is aware that if he can regain his form, he will become a tough challenge to his competitors.

He emphasized his passion for mentoring younger players, highlighting his enjoyment in supporting them as they strive to improve both their game and their lives. Watson feels a strong connection with these young golfers, many of whom are parents themselves, and he wants to be a source of guidance in their career.

Bubba Watson on the injury

The well-known golfer has spoken about the injuries that have marked his career at the start of this season, firmly believing that such challenges are surmountable and that he can return to his best form. Bubba reflected on the advice from doctors who expect a golfer to fully shine in their second year, hoping that this year will be that turning point.

He expressed his intention to play until he turns 50, believing he truly has the potential and capacity to achieve this. The experienced golfer wants everything to fall into place. He has never shied away from the possibility of stepping back when he feels his body can no longer endure the demands, allowing younger golfers the opportunity to shine.

Bubba Watson has won the Masters Tournament twice (2012, 2014) and has achieved notable finishes in other majors, including T5 in the U.S. Open (2007) and T12 in The Open Championship (2010).

This experienced golfer shared his opinion two years ago admitting that he was happy to be part of LIV Golf but also frustrated with the PGA Tour, which showed little sign of progress or openness to change. Golf fans were disappointed by Watson’s comments, viewing his primary motivation as money, similar to that of other golfers who joined the Saudi-backed tour

“This is the happiest I’ve ever been and I haven’t even hit a shot yet,” Watson said

“I was in a business [the PGA Tour] that I didn’t want to be in and that showed me the light and got me to LIV Golf.

LIV gives me the best opportunity to help people if they want to be helped, and that’s what makes me happy.”
