Novak Djokovic Will Skip The ATP Finals In Turin

For the first time in his long career, Novak Djokovic will skip the ATP Finals. Djokovic, who has won the title seven times including the last two, cited an injury but most expected the Serb, with his reduced schedule, wasn’t keen on making the appearance anyway.

“I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won’t be playing next week,” he posted on social media. “Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!”

Since that stunning loss to Alexei Popyrin at the US Open, Djokovic has played just three events — Davis Cup, the Shanghai Masters where he lost to Taylor Fritz in the semifinals, and the Riyadh money exo.

While Djokovic didn’t win a Slam during a season for the first time since 2017, he did finally get his gold. So to him, it was a most successful year.

Djokovic will still finish inside the Top 10 but likely will be outside of the Top 8 seeds at the Australian Open where the 38-year-old will try once more for a 25th Slam.
