  • The Preds got out to an early lead with a goal from Luke Evangelista. A great play by Mark Del Gaizo to draw a penalty was followed up with another great play from the youth line to put Nashville on the board.
  • The Avalanche came roaring back in the second period, using a power play to set up a goal from Devon Toews just after the teams returned to even strength, and following that later on with yet another goal from powerhouse Mikko Rantanen.
  • Nashville finished the second in better shape than they’d started it, earning another power play and applying pressure to the Avs before they ran out of time.
  • Colton Sissons started the third period off by finishing off a play by Roman Josi to tie the game 2-2.
  • Both teams tried hard to close the game in regulation, with the Avs applying waves of pressure and Josi making a spectacular solo play, but neither managed it.
  • In overtime, Brady Skjei lost his footing and the puck, and Samuel Girard capitalized on the mistake by retrieving the puck and getting it past Juuse Saros.
