So, let’s have one statistic to begin our week’s helping of field hockey numbers. That statistic is that there are 45 games left to play in the American scholastic field hockey season in the next three days.
Each of these games have their own human dramas, their own backstories, and their own potential for statistical occurrences. And that’s what happens when you get the best teams putting their talent onto the pitch. Many of the finest players in the country are on this list, and will be giving their all for state and regional glory in the next three days.
The national scoring race is going to tighten over the weekend: six of the top scorers on the current goal-scoring list have games this weekend, and the results could shift these lists dramatically.
What you see below is our cocktail of statistics, gathered through as Lancaster Online, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, New Jersey Advance Media, the governing bodies of Kentucky and Michigan, The Boston Herald, and, of course, the easy-to-use MaxPreps.com platform. I encourage you to get your fellow teams to enter their information there as well as whichever is your local news site, so that we can aim for as complete a statistical picture of the country as possible.
