With this in mind, the online casino team at Betway decided to analyze search volume to identify the most popular board/card games in both America and Canada.
America’s most popular board and card games
When looking at the USA, Solitaire was ranked as the country’s favorite game. The card game, which is also known as ‘Patience’ in Europe had a whopping 20,351,790 searches which was 249% more than the game in second place!
According to the data, poker is America’s second favorite card game behind Solitaire. The iconic card game, which is a favorite pastime of James Bond, had an impressive 5,830,120 searches.
Card games may have taken the top two spots, however chess and monopoly prove board games are still a popular choice by taking the third and fourth spots in the rankings. Chess had nearly five million searches, meanwhile Monopoly boasted just under four million.

Canada’s most popular board and card games
In Canada, it was a similar story when it came to the top spot. Solitaire reigned supreme with nearly three million searches, which was nearly three times higher than the game in second place.Â
However, unlike the USA, poker didn’t take the number two spot in Canada. Canadians’ love for chess was enough to put the strategy board game in second with over a million searches in the country.
While being the seventh most popular game in America, Euchre proved to be a lot more popular with Canadians. The fast-paced game which requires a mix of skill, strategy, and a bit of luck, ranked fourth in Canda with a search volume of 437,880.
