Through the ups and downs of the 2023-24 season, one thing has been remarkably consistent about the Cleveland Cavaliers: no one knows what Donovan Mitchell is going to do.
Will he be with the team next season or will he be traded away in the offseason?
Mitchell has slyly shied away from stating any definitive plans, leading many people to speculate about his future.
That future is still up in the air but Brian Windhorst said, via NBACentral, that if Mitchell does depart from Cleveland, two teams will be ready to offer him a deal.
Those teams are the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets, who both have trade proposals ready to go.

Even before this season started, there was a lot of talk about Mitchell’s plans with Cleveland.
That’s because he didn’t sign a contract extension last summer and one wasn’t worked out during the season either.
In the months ahead, Mitchell will either agree to an extension with the Cavaliers or the team will decide that it’s time to cut ties with him.
He is officially signed to the team for two more seasons, with 2025–26 having a player option, but the Cavaliers are terrified of losing him for nothing.
They have to weigh their options and decide if they should let him go this offseason and get good assets in return.
Both the Lakers and Nets see the upside in signing Mitchell and he would fit into both of their lineups very well.
The Cavaliers are still in the playoffs, although their chances of advancing to the next round are slimmer than ever.
Once this season is done, Cleveland will have to make a big decision about Mitchell.
