The reigning NBA-champion Nuggets are listed as -198 moneyline favorites to advance and 5.5-point favorites against the spread.

The winner will advance in the NBA playoff bracket to face the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference final. Dallas ousted top-seeded OKC in six games thanks to a heart-pounding 117-116 win on Saturday night.

Denver Anemic in Potential Series-Clinching Game 6

After winning three straight from Game 3 to Game 5, many were expecting the champion Nuggets to end the series in hostile territory in Game 6, but the Timberwolves extended the series to the brink with an absolutely dominant performance on their home court. The Nuggets scored just 40 points in the first half and their offensive performance was even worse in the second during a 115-70 blowout loss.

Nikola Jokic had 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting but no one else on the Nuggets had more than 12 points and Denver shot a horrendous 30.2% from the floor.

For the T-Wolves, Anthony Edwards led the way with 27 points on 8-of-17 shooting in the must-win Game 6. Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns were monsters on the glass, with 14 and 13 rebounds, respectively, as Minnesota finished +19 on the boards.

Minnesota vs Denver Injury Reports for Game 7

The biggest name on the injury reports is Denver’s Jamal Murray, who is listed as questionable due to a nagging calf strain. Murray has been very up-and-down in the series. In Denver’s three wins, the two guard has averaged 19.7 PPG on 50% shooting from the field. In Minnesota’s trio of victories, he’s averaging just 11.7 PPG on 26% shooting from the field.

On the Minnesota side, veteran point guard Mike Conley is questionable with an Achilles injury. Conley sat out Game 5 but returned for Game 6, recording 13 points, five assists, and four rebounds in 31 minutes.

Timberwolves vs Nuggets Game 7 Predictions

Both teams in this series have been dreadfully inconsistent. The T-Wolves looked like they were going to run away with the series after taking the first two games in Denver, but credit Nuggets coach Mike Malone for making the necessary adjustments on offense to counter Minnesota’s league-best defending. The Nuggets turned the tide in the series by really picking up their pace and not allowing the Timberwolves to get into their half-court set as readily.

While the offense obviously runs through Jokic, it needs a healthy and effective Murray to really function at its peak. Murray had one of his worst games of the season in Game 6 (10 points on 4-of-18 shooting) and I have little confidence his body is going to be ready for Game 7.

Five points is a big number against a defense as good as Minnesota’s. Denver’s championship pedigree may win out, but I love the T-Wolves and the points against the spread.

MIN vs DEN Game 7 picks:

  • Timberwolves +5 (-110)
  • Murray under 19.5 points (-110)
