While he awaits a new contract extension, Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been with the team at the start of OTAs.

That is significant because some players like to stay away from the team while business gets handled.

Not in Tagovailoa’s case.

There is another big development surrounding the former national champion.

According to the NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, Tagovailoa has lost 10-15 pounds and is down to 220.

“He wants to be agile…The hope is that maybe he can extend a little bit more with a little bit of a slimmer weight,” Wolfe said recently on the NFL Network.

Wolfe also noted that the former Alabama star had bulked up last year in an effort to keep himself safe from taking hard hits.

He also took Jujitsu classes in an effort to learn how to properly fall without injuring himself.

The 26-year-old was successful last season by playing in all 17 games and took Miami to the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Oh, he also led the league in passing yards last year (4,624).

Not only was he able to stay healthy last year, but he was able to be productive too.

Look for him to get his major extension at $50 million per year soon enough too.

With the addition of former three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Miami’s offense is that much more stacked heading into 2024.

They already have Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Raheem Mostert, and De’Von Achane.

A healthy and fully-paid Tua should make magic happen this year.
