‘A quarterback’s dream’, receiver Jayvan Boggs commits to Missouri

Cocoa (Fla.) High three-star receiver Jayvan Boggs has announced his commitment to Missouri. The 6-1, 200-pounder from the class of 2025 chose the Tigers over offers from UCF, Arkansas, Georgia, USC, South Carolina, and many others.

Boggs, the country’s No. 42 receiver this cycle, was once committed to Ohio State. However, following a change of heart, he wanted to open up his recruitment and pursue other options.

Enter Missouri.

It was a battle for the Tigers. UCF made it really close down the stretch. Georgia and USC were two others he strongly considered. He had great relationships across the board with each and every staff. However, head coach Eli Drinkwitz, offensive coordinator Kirby Moore, and receivers coach Jacob Peeler got the job done in the end.

“What excites me the most is the potential that he has,” said elite quarterback and fellow Missouri commit Matt Zollers. “His hands are like glue, so just having that type of target is big time. He’s also a very cool dude. Over this past month or so,we’ve really been talking a lot and I’d say me and him are pretty good friends now.”

As a junior, Boggs had 93 catches for 1,493 yards and 24 touchdowns for a team that repeated as Florida’s 2M champions. That followed his sophomore campaign where he posted 722 yards receiving and 6 touchdowns on 41 catches.

“He’s a hard worker. He’s grinds ever day in the weight room and on the field,” said Boggs’ friend and high school teammate, Top247 quarterback and Michigan commit Brady Hart. “He’s a lot more than just his athletic abilities. He’s extremely smart. He can throttle down and sit in the zone. He can do it all. He knows how to play the position. He is a quarterback’s dream. He will win every 50-50 ball and when you need a big-time play, you got to Jayvan.”

247Sports Scouting Report via Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins: Thick-cut wide receiver that racks up chunks of yardage after the catch. Assembled a historic junior campaign, totaling just under 1,500 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns for Florida’s 2M champs. Displays suddenness as a route runner and will set defensive backs up with dynamic cuts and slick head fakes as he attacks leverage. Quick to locate the football and has proven to be rather sure-handed. Makes his money working the smaller numbers of the route tree as he makes it extremely difficult for would-be tacklers to get him on the ground with his advanced vision and impressive contact balance. More of a build-speed prospect at this stage, but still finds ways to make an impact and get into the end zone. Should be viewed as a potential zone-coverage beater that can handle a high-volume of targets in an offense that features West Coast concepts. Has multi-year Power Four starter upside and could work his rotation sooner rather than later as he doesn’t lack polish.
