Alabama football GM explains why Kadyn Proctor rejoined Crimson Tide in ‘monumental’ transfer portal move

Alabama’s most impactful newcomer via the 2024 college football transfer portal is hardly a newcomer at all given that offseason commit Kadyn Proctor played his true freshman season with the Crimson Tide last fall. The left tackle departed from the program in January when former head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, committed to Iowa shortly thereafter and nearly went through spring practices with the Hawkeyes. But on the eve of camp, Proctor indicated his intention to re-enter the portal and head back to Alabama.

It was a whirlwind experience for all parties involved. New Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer filled a key position with the young standout who held the position before his arrival, Iowa never reaped the rewards of its brief recruiting victory and Proctor himself moved twice in the span of a half offseason.

“That was some of the biggest news we’ve heard since we’ve been here,” Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan said on 247Sports Unfiltered. “I mean, that was monumental in helping us take steps towards getting to a championship this year.”
