Alex Jack’s tips for Sunday’s Premier League clash include another goal for Alexander Isak and under 1.5 Newcastle cards.
Manchester United head to St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon hoping for a boost in morale ahead of their Europa League quarter-final second leg next week, but they may find the going tough against a home side with plenty to play for.
Newcastle’s 3-0 win over Leicester last time out made it four wins on the spin in all competitions, and they will be hoping to follow their historic League Cup final victory with a return to the Champions League next term.
The Magpies head into gameweek 32 fifth in the table and only behind Chelsea on goal difference, with Eddie Howe’s side also having a game in hand on all the teams around them. Here are our football betting selections for the big game of the day.

In-form attacking duo to flourish at St James’ Park
Newcastle are odds-on favourites to beat their struggling rivals and one man backed to make a big difference is Alexander Isak.
The Magpies’ star man is just one goal short of equalling his best-ever league campaign for goals, with seven matches remaining for him to match his first season on Tyneside, where he scored 21 Premier League goals.
The 25-year-old has scored 10 of his 20 goals in 13 appearances at St James’ Park and, while he failed to find the net at Leicester last time out, he still has five goals in his last six appearances for the club.
Isak scored in the return fixture at Old Trafford in his last game of 2024, and he can strike again to pile the pressure on the struggling visitors.
Attacking partner Jacob Murphy is also back to make an impact after scoring a brace at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
The 30-year-old notched these two goals from two attempts on goal, and that was the fourth time in his last five games in which he has had at least two shots on goal.
Forward-thinking wing-back can trouble Magpies
Manchester United may be out of form, but they are not without threats of their own, and an unlikely saviour on a few occasions this season has been Diogo Dalot.
The wing-back is allowed a lot of freedom to get forward in Ruben Amorim’s system, allowing him to chip in with two goals and four assists in all competitions this term.
Dalot has had at least one shot in nine of his last 14 appearances for the Red Devils, and he could give Nick Pope something to think about on Sunday.
Well-behaved Newcastle to take the fire out of rivalry
This fixture has had its fair share of fiery encounters, but the referee may get an easier afternoon than expected in the north east on Sunday.
Only Brentford have picked up fewer cards than Newcastle this season and their last six Premier League games have seen the Magpies booked just five times.
They have not been carded more than once in any of these games, and the visiting Manchester United have seen their opponents carded fewer than twice in four of their last seven in all competitions.
