April 22, 2025 — Top 10 for the week of April 20

This weekend, in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., there will be 20 girls’ lacrosse teams converging for 10 intersectional matches at the ninth Gains for Brains Lacrosse Showcase. And a number of teams from our Top 10 are going to be there. We’ll have a more comprehensive preview on Saturday, but I think that event is going to scramble next week’s Top 10 in more ways than you can imagine.

1. South Huntington St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) 6-0
Beat Darien (Conn.) 13-8 thanks to a five-goal eruption in the fourth quarter, but it gets no easier this week. Team took on Wilton (Conn.) yesterday and has an in-form Chatham (N.J.) side Saturday
2. Newtown Square Episcopal Academy (Pa.) 12-0
Churchwomen beat Rosemont Agnes Irwin (Pa.) 10-3 and laid down a marker for the rest of the InterAc Conference. They host on Bradenton IMG Academy (Fla.) on Friday
3. Owings Mills McDonogh (Md.) 11-1
The Eagles got by a good Lutherville Maryvale Prep (Md.) team 11-10 last week, and have Bel Air John Carroll (Md.) and Annapolis St. Mary’s (Md.) this week
4. Darien (Conn.) 5-1
The Wave, after losing to St. Anthony’s, beat Manhasset (N.J.) 14-9 on the weekend; they have a tough week with Wilton (Conn.), Rye (N.Y.), and a Gains for Brains match with Sayville (N.Y.) on Saturday
5. Coronado (Calif.) 11-0
The Islanders have La Jolla (Calif.) today and Marin (Calif.) Catholic on Saturday

The Owls, after a week’s break after the loss to Episcopal, get their shot at Bradenton IMG Academy (Fla.) on Wednesday
7. Alexandria St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes (Va.) 14-1
The Saints, powering towards head coach Kathy Jenkins’ 900th coaching win, bested Richmond Collegiate (Va.) 9-7 last week; three home matches loom this week including Alexandria Episcopal (Va.) in the Seminary Hill Derby
8. Lewes Cape Henlopen (Del.) 8-0-1
The Vikings topped Dover (Del.) 19-0 and have a 10-day break before meeting Claymont Archmere Academy (Del.) this Saturday

The Mustangs beat Latham Shaker (N.Y.) 23-7 last week and take on Finksburg Gerstell Academy (Md.) today

The Phantoms have had some statement wins in the last couple of weeks with wins over VIctor (N.Y.) and Westhampton (N.Y.) Beach
