Avanesyan Undeterred By Ennis’ Reputation Ahead Of Title Fight

David Avanesyan doesn’t rate IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis as the best fighter he’ll have faced in his career when he challenges him next month on July 13th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.

A Career Filled with Top Talent

Avanesyan states that he’s fought many talented top fighters, and he can’t place the unbeaten Matchroom-promoted ‘Boots’ Ennis at the top of the list, which is understandable, given his long career.

The Armenia-born Avanesyan has fought these well-known fighters:

– Terence Crawford
– Shane Mosley: *44-years-old
– Lamont Peterson
– Josh Kelly
– Egidijus Kavaliauskas
– Kerman Lejarraga
– Charlie Navarro
– Kaizer Mabuza

Crawford is the only fighter on Avanesyan’s 15-year resume that could possibly be better than ‘Boots’ Ennis, but that’s still in doubt in the minds of many fans due to the advanced age of the Nebraska native.

Fans will better know if Boots Ennis is the best fighter Avanesysan has fought when they meet on July 13th. If Ennis destroys Avanesyan in a better fashion than Crawford, fans can judge for themselves if he’s the best. However, with Avanesyan inactive for nearly two years and being brought in as a late substitute, Ennis won’t receive full credit for beating him, even if it’s by early knockout.

The 35-year-old Avanesyan (30-4-1, 18 KOs) has volunteered to step in as the replacement opponent for the unbeaten IBF 147-lb champion ‘Boots’ Ennis (31-0, 28 KOs) after his previously scheduled challenger Cody Crowley had to pull out because of an eye issue.

Avaneysan hasn’t fought in almost two years since being knocked out in the sixth round by WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford on December 10th, 2022, in Omaha, Nebraska. He’s still not happy with how that fight played out due to Crawford’s gloves that he wore.

Avanesyan Dismisses Ennis’ Top Ranking

“Not top one. I’ve had many top fights. He’s a good boxer. I can’t say now that Jaron Ennis is #1,” said David Avaneysan to Boxing News when asked if Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis is the best fighter he’s faced in his 15-year professional career.
