Baltimore Orioles Appear to be Bringing Back Orange Pants in 2025 – SportsLogos.Net News

The Baltimore Orioles might be bringing back a look straight out of the 1970s during the upcoming 2025 Major League Baseball season.

If a planned bobblehead giveaway is any indication (and it typically is), the Orioles will pair their alternate orange jerseys with equally orange pants. Thanks to numerous social media spotters, we learned the O’s are planning to give away an all-orange uniformed Grayson Rodriguez bobblehead for their game on May 31st against the Chicago White Sox (honestly, I’ve got my fingers crossed the White Sox go all-black for the occasion)

Baltimore wore orange pants with orange tops as an alternate uniform during the 1971 and 1972 seasons. Those ’71 Orioles went 101-57 as four 20-game winners led them to the American League pennant and just one win from a World Series title, so it’s not the worst club to emulate the look of.

The Orioles have gone all-orange just once since then, turning back the clock during a visit to Tampa Bay on August 13, 2010, where they blanked the Rays 5-0. Following the game, Orioles manager Buck Showalter shared his thoughts on the uniform, suggesting that the press should “take a picture because you won’t see them again.”

Well, he was right, at least for fourteen years.

Baseball teams have been flirting with the return of coloured pants in recent years, following their heyday back in the 1970s and 80s. The San Diego Padres introduced khaki-coloured pants as part of their regular road uniform for a few seasons in the mid-’00s before the introduction of Nike’s City Connect series, which saw a sudden surge in them. Outside the City Connect sets, we recently saw the Kansas City Royals go all-powder blue for a criminally short time in 2023.
