Jacorey Watson, a 2025 wide receiver from Shadow Creek High School in Pearland, Texas, announced his commitment to the Baylor Bears on Tuesday afternoon.
Watson, listed at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, is a four-star prospect and ranks as the No. 118 overall player in the country and No. 23 WR in the 2025 class, according to Rivals.
Watson chose the Bears over a host of other offers, but the finalists included Houston, Boston College, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M.
This is a major recruiting victory for the staff in Waco, and it appears that the Bears were able to secure Watson’s commitment after they knocked the official visit out of the park.
“When I was on my visit in Waco, it felt like it was home. I can be comfortable here and I can ball out,” Watson told Rivals’ Marshall Levenson. “And the offense they run with the raid offense is going to be outrageous. You go out there, are able to work in space and try to get open and score and that’s my goal. It’s a good decision be for me to go there.”
One of the biggest reasons Watson chose BU over the other suitors was his relationship with wide receivers coach Dallas Baker.
“Coach Baker is my dog, he really made me feel comfortable,” Watson said. “We had a one-on-one meeting and we talked about not even football really, but just family and stuff. He treated us like he wanted me and like I was one of his own sons. With me going off to a school away from home, I’m gonna need that type of father figure at that school.”
Watson is Baylor’s 14 pledge of the cycle, and its highest-rated commitment of the 2025 class, which now ranks 47th nationally. There’s still more work to do for Dave Aranda and company, but this was a huge win for the Bears, and one that they can build on in the coming weeks and months.
