Best bets for Spurs v Man City

Expect plenty of goals and a win for the hosts when Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday night.

Manchester City suffered their third defeat in their last four games in all competitions against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday and the Citizens may be in for another difficult time against an improving Tottenham on Wednesday.

Spurs picked up another much-needed three points against Ipswich at the weekend as they continue their resurgence, and victory against the defending Premier League champions would provide a huge confidence boost to Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Spurs v Man City tips

Tottenham Hotspur to win and both teams to score @ 100/30

Brennan Johnson to have 1+ shot on target @ 10/11

Son Heung-Min to score or assist @ 11/8

Improving Spurs can pile the misery on Citizens

City went into a home Premier League fixture as underdogs for the first time in the Pep Guardiola era on Sunday and league leaders Liverpool lived up to their favouritism with a 2-0 win at the Etihad.

The Citizens are now 20 points adrift of the table-toppers and out of both the EFL Cup and the Champions League, while Newcastle, Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Aston Villa are all breathing down their necks in the race for a top-four finish.

That defeat against Liverpool was their third in their last four fixtures and, with three losses in their last four away games, Tottenham may upset the odds on Wednesday.

Spurs have had a difficult time this season and are the underdogs here in the football betting odds, but injuries have played a massive part in this and, as the players have started to return, the form has improved.

They won their third successive Premier League game against Ipswich on Saturday and they have beaten City twice already this season, including a stunning 4-0 success at the Etihad in November, although a clean sheet is unlikely after recording just three shutouts in their last 10 matches.

Johnson could prove a threat

Brennan Johnson has registered 48 attempts in the league this season and two of those found their way into Ipswich’s net on Saturday, leaving the Welshman full of confidence heading into this tie.

Johnson has tested the opposition goalkeeper at least once in four of his last seven league appearances for Spurs and faces a City defence that have allowed their opponents 49 shots on target in their last nine games.

Talisman Son to contribute to home win

Son Heung-Min has been Tottenham’s go-to man since Harry Kane left for Munich, and his two assists against Ipswich on Sunday took his tally to six goals and nine assists in his 23 top-flight appearances this season.

The South Korea international has seven goal contributions in his last 11 appearances in all competitions and laid on an assist at the Etihad in November.

That was his 13th career goal contribution against the Citizens’ and his third in his last three league meetings with them, so he looks a good price to make an impact.
