Jim Courier, former world number 1 and 4-time Grand Slam champion, commented on the match between Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev, played at the Paris Rolex Masters, letting himself go with not-so-positive judgments towards the young Dane.
What a week @holgerrune2003
Impressive level and beast mindset. Paris loves you forever and will always be your home.
Thanks for all the emotions and make us dream all this week . I’m so proud of you !
We love you so much 💙🤍❤️ pic.twitter.com/ReMEf0Rl2E— holgerrune.elodie (@holgerrunelodie) November 2, 2024
Defining his game as decidedly immature, claiming without too many turns of phrase that it is not clear what he has in mind to do when he is on the court. Very harsh words, considering how the American believes that Holger needs his game to be put in order.
Courier also provoked a comment from one of his former rivals, Boris Becker, who was also Rune’s coach: a collaboration that lasted only a few weeks between the two. The social post X of the 6-time German Slam champion is decidedly eloquent and, in a single sentence with an exclamation point, he condensed Courier’s thoughts, writing: “Jim knows what he’s talking about!”

A short sentence that will probably also provoke a reaction from his former player. We have to say Rune’s year below expectations is also reflected in the ATP ranking. The Danish player is outside the top 10 in the world and was eliminated at the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris Bercy in the semifinals. A year of transition for him.
Thank you Paris 💙🤍❤️ your support and heart for tennis is something special . I love to play here .
Huge congratulations to Zverev for the victory in the final 🏆 pic.twitter.com/9WqO6tHb6e— Holger Rune (@holgerrune2003) November 3, 2024
