Boston vs Nebraska Odds, Lines

Prediction for Pinstripe Bowl 2024 | The Boston College Eagles will meet the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the first time ever when the two programs meet at Yankee Stadium in the 2024 Pinstripe Bowl.

Boston College has a five-game winning streak going against the spread, and their last six games have all gone over the point total.

Interestingly, the Nebraska streak with the point total has alternated between unders and overs since october. However, they are just 2-5 in their last seven games against the spread.

Head coach Bill O’Brien led BC to seven wins a year ago, but taking down Nebraska would make it eight victories this time around, despite having a quarterback change near the midpoint of the season.

Matt Rhule has led Nebraska to a 5-7 record and a 6-6 record in his first two years leading the Cornhuskers.

Now he has the chance to win the school’s first bowl game since 2015, which would be a major step back for a program that, once upon a time, was among the sport’s elite. Read on to get our sports betting prediction on this matchup.

Boston vs Nebraska Final Score and Prediction for Pinstripe Bowl 2024

Expect an old-school smashmouth football game when these two teams square off on Saturday. Both sides have solid track records in short yardage situations, but Boston College should have the edge given the missing five Nebraska starters in their first two levels. I don’t expect this game to generate a lot of points, but I do see the Eagles prevailing.

I predict a final score of BC 23, Nebraska 17.

Boston College Eagles Analysis

The transfer portal has hit Nebraska harder than BC, with over 20 players leaving Lincoln behind. While BC did lose quarterback Thomas Castellanos to the transfer portal, the team had already moved on from him as the starter, giving the job to Grayson James for the last three games.

He finished the 2024 regular season with the best game of his college career, going 20 of 28 for 253 yards and a pair of touchdowns without an interception against Pitt. Nebraska’s defense won’t have edge rushers Jimari Butler, James Williams, and Princewill Umanmielen; nor will they have linebackers Stefon Thompson and Mikai Gbayor, as all five of those starters from the front seven have opted to enter the portal.

Expect BC to look solid on the defensive line as well. Their size and strength have helped them slow down a number of offenses this season, and they like to play at the same type of grinding, methodical pace as the Cornhuskers. Given that focus on rhythm and the running game, if you like BC to take advantage of the absences of the Nebraska defenses, then you’ll take them to cover this spread.

Nebraska Cornhuskers Analysis

Quarterback Dylan Raiola struggled through the first half of the season, helping the team finish the regular season with a rout of Wisconsin to end the regular season. Even though the skill positions are a bit depleted for Nebraska, Raiola still leads an offense that ranks in the top 50 in the success rate and has a 66% pass completion rate.

Like Boston College, Nebraska prefers to move at a slow pace, using the running game to set everything else up. Their kicking game ranks outside the top 100 in the nation in make percentage. That’s actually fairly similar to Boston College as the Eagles have only tried four field goals this season. Part of that has to do with Bill O’Brien’s aggressive decision-making on fourth downs, but part of it has to do with the team’s lack of faith in their kicker.
