Boxing Tonight: Joyce Vs. Chisora On ESPN+ – Live Results

By Michael Collins – 07/27/2024 – Comments

Heavyweights Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora meet tonight in a domestic scrap at the O2 Arena in London.

Event times: Live on ESPN+ and TNT Sports, 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT – Boxing 247 will give live updates of the results below.

Joyce-Chisora is a match that both guys must win to keep their sinking careers alive. They’ve both been getting beaten around the clock lately and look shopworn. Their ages make it difficult for either to continue if they lose.

Chisora, 40, needs a win in this fight to continue to be given choice spots in main events, but he’s up against it in this matchup. He hasn’t beaten anyone on the level of Joyce in six years since his upset of Carlos Takam in 2018.

Joyce is still reeling from his two knockout losses to Zhilei Zhang in 2023, and he needs to show fans that he’s still a top-level heavyweight. There are some doubts after those two defeats and Joyce’s last fight against Kash Ali in March.

Joyce can’t afford another loss if he wants to put himself in the picture for a bigger fight.

In tonight’s undercard, Dennis McCann faces Ionut Baluta in the chief support bout for the vacant European super bantamweight title. Super featherweights Ryan Garner and Archie Sharp meet. In other fights, Raven Chapman takes on Yohana Sarabia. Heavyweight Moses Itauma meets veteran Mariusz Wach.
