The San Francisco 49ers have a tough situation on their hands right now.
For months, it’s been more than evident that Brandon Aiyuk doesn’t want to be there, and he would only change his mind if they meet his salary demands.
The fact that they haven’t done that yet means they most likely have no interest in doing so, especially after they already reworked Christian McCaffrey’s deal and talked about giving Brock Purdy a huge contract extension.
Recently, during a streaming session with Jayden Daniels, Aiyuk even claimed that the Niners ‘didn’t want him back.’
Now, he’s been spotted hanging around with the Washington Commanders’ quarterback (via Dov Kleiman).

The Commanders already have Jahan Dotson and Terry McLaurin, but they would most definitely welcome Aiyuk with open arms as well.
Both parties seem to be far apart in contract talks, and the Niners might be playing a dangerous game there.
Aiyuk has shown little to no willingness to meet them in the middle or even hide his discomfort with the organization, and that’s something that could lead to deeper issues by the time the season is here.
At the end of the day, it makes no sense to have a disgruntled and unmotivated player in the locker room, and they could still make the most of his contract by moving him to a team that could not only give a decent value in return for his services but also give him the kind of contract he’s looking for.
