Carlos Alcaraz scared his fans, during yesterday’s training at the US Open together with the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo. While he was hitting a series of backhands, not even at a high speed, the Spanish tennis player made an unnatural movement with his right ankle.
Carlitos immediately stopped and talked to the team about what had happened. As a precaution, they decided by mutual agreement to leave the court and abandon training. The sprain to his right ankle – according to COPE – is not serious. In fact, the problem does not cause particular concern to the staff and to the athlete himself, who will regularly appear at the press conference. Therefore, Carlos Alcaraz’s participation in the US Open does not seem to be at risk. It is the same ankle that caused problems to the young Spanish champion this year at the tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
Carlos Alcaraz hurt his ankle in practice against Cerundolo.
He immediately stopped playing and spoke with his team before leaving the court.
Really bad luck ahead of the US Open.
Hope everything is alright. ❤️🩹

Alcaraz, after his defeat in the final at the Olympic tournament in Paris, was prematurely beaten in Cincinnati by Gael Monfils. In a match that also caused a lot of talk due to the nervousness of the 4-time Spanish Slam champion.
Now Carlitos returns to New York with the aim of making a double and repeating his success in 2022 when he won the first Slam tournament of his career in a final against Casper Ruud. The Spanish tennis player, seeded number 3, was drawn in the same half of the draw as Jannik Sinner. Therefore, as already happened at Roland Garros, the two players could face each other in the semifinals. Let’s see the path reserved for Alcaraz by the draw of the US Open. The debut is scheduled for Tuesday 27 August against the Australian Li Tu.
