In an NBA that’s getting more oriented toward the perimeter and in an era where the traditional big man seems to be a bit of a dying breed, it’s not usual to see teams going with jumbo lineups or two bigs on the court at the same time.
We’ve seen the Minnesota Timberwolves find success with Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert, but they have different profiles.
Towns isn’t a bruiser or someone who’s going to make his damage down-low.
Despite his nice face-up game, he’s more of a stretch big than anything.
That makes the Cleveland Cavaliers the only team with two more traditional bigs in the starting lineup.
And while their individual numbers have been solid, there are doubts about that being a winning formula in the long run.
So, after watching Evan Mobley take a big leap without Jarrett Allen, the latter’s future is now in question, according to a report by Shams Charania (via Evan Sidery).
Jarrett Allen’s future with the Cavaliers is very much up in the air, per @ShamsCharania on @RunItBackFDTV.
Evan Mobley averaged 16.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks in Allen’s absence during the playoffs.

Sidery pointed out that Mobley averaged 16.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 blocks without Allen, thus making him kind of expendable.
There should be a big market for the former Brooklyn Nets big man, who’s one of the best rebounders in the game.
Mobley was mostly used at the four, and some scouts expected him to become a better shooter over time.
However, he hasn’t developed that offensive touch just yet, and he might never do it.
Also, he’ll be eligible to sign a very lucrative contract extension.
And with the Cavs having plenty of questions about their depth and their roster, it would make sense to at least gauge the market for one of their talented bigs.
