Former Big Brother star James Jordan gives his thoughts on this year’s batch of stars, and reveals who he wants to win.
James Jordan is no stranger to the Big Brother house or to stirring things up while he’s in it. The professional dancer, who found fame as a professional on Strictly Come Dancing, first entered the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2014 and returned for another round on the 2017 All Stars edition.
Speaking to online slots site Betway, the 47-year-old explains why producers should push boundaries even further, admitting that the show ‘isn’t as good as it used to be.’
He also didn’t hold back with his thoughts on Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa, and says Ella Rae Wise ‘has shown her hand far too early.’
Who do you want to win?
I like Daley Thompson. He’s a nice, normal guy and has gone in there and just been himself.
Ella seems to have caught the attention of viewers – what do you make of her in the house?
I like Ella but she’s not doing herself any favours. She’s clearly done her research before going in and I think she was hoping to get the attention of Chris. But Chris is no fool and I think he’s latched on to JoJo because she has a huge following. Whereas Ella is a TOWIE star and doesn’t have the right level of fame. Ella is making it a little too obvious she’s annoyed at Chris and JoJo’s flirtation and she’s shown her hand a little bit.
You were witness to one of CBB’s biggest arguments involving Kim Woodburn. What was it like watching it unfold?
I wasn’t there for every fight. But it was wild to witness what I did. She went after Coleen Nolan, which I thought was so unfair because she’s such a lovely woman. She really went personal with people so I tried to give her a taste of her own medicine, and she hated it. She got offended when I called her a cleaner, but that’s what she’s known for. She could dish it out but couldn’t take it.
Is it easy to move on from arguments in the house?
For me it was easy. You can’t escape people but in a way, that forces you to deal with the tension and work through it. I’ve always been an upfront person and once I get something off my chest, we can move forward.
Is Big Brother hard?
No, and any celebrity who says it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done needs a reality check. You get paid good money for three weeks to sit around with a load of people. You might not get on with everyone but you’re getting paid. It’s not that tough. There are people working 12 to 16 hours a day desperate to put food on the table for their family and you’re complaining about getting paid thousands to sit around? Get a grip?
Is there anything Big Brother should change going forward?
It’s too easy for the housemates. They’re not making anything hard for them. They didn’t pass a shopping task but they’re still getting loads of food. I want to see it tough on these celebrities. When I went in there, I wanted to be pushed and I wanted to see how people react when they’re really hungry. They’re not hungry! They’re not struggling. But ITV will think if they enforce stricter rules, they’re being too cruel. That’s why the show isn’t as good as it once was.
