The Boston Celtics may have won the NBA championship, but it actually started months ago.
Trading for Jrue Holiday tipped the scale in Boston’s favor, with most analysts agreeing that the Damian Lillard trade had benefited Boston more than the Milwaukee Bucks.
Holiday brought one of the peskiest and most physical backcourt defenses in the league to Boston, not to mention his timely shot-making and his championship experience.
He was one of the biggest contributors to this championship, and, as such, it only made sense that he was fairly compensated for his services.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Holiday secured a $1 million bonus by winning the title (via NBA Central).

Despite not being as popular as other players, Holiday is one of the best guards in the league.
He gets the job done on both ends of the floor, and he’s proven to be the kind of player who rises to the occasion when things get tough.
Holiday is a walking bucket, yet he hasn’t hesitated to embrace a lesser role behind other stars because that’s what the team needs from him.
Even so, he won’t hesitate to take a big shot if needed.
He’s now a two-time NBA Champion and has been the defensive staple and glue guy on both of those teams with two completely different playing styles and rosters.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown get most of the attention and rightfully so, but Holiday also deserves plenty of credit for this title.
