Before the 2024 NBA Draft got underway this week, the New York Knicks made a bold and potentially brilliant move to add another former Villanova star to the squad that already had Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo on the roster.

With the Knicks playing an inspired brand of basketball this past season and showing the team might be on the cusp of being a title contender in the Eastern Conference, New York has gone all-in during this NBA offseason, with the team acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets.

Along with bringing in Bridges to add to an already talented roster filled with former Wildcats, New York also re-signed defensive-minded star OG Anunoby, who the team traded for ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

Clearly, the Knicks are willing to take chances and willing to pay for the moves they make, but Chris Broussard of FOX Sports believes that it won’t mean anything if the team doesn’t win it all via First Things First.

“I like the Mikal Bridges trade. The Knicks gave up too much unless they win a championship.”

Broussard is correct, but teams in the NBA, and any other professional sports for that matter, don’t win championships without bold moves and taking chances on things that could go one of two ways.

That said, the pressure is on from here on out for the storied franchise, as these are moves that must produce results, or the New York media will torch the team and head coach Tom Thibodeau on a regular basis.
