Ohio State’s defense is equally impressive — on paper. There are a ton of returning starters who are likely early-round picks and the Buckeyes added an All-American safety — Alabama’s Caleb Downs — to the depth chart to highlight one of this transfer cycle’s biggest pulls. This defense should be one of the nation’s best and looks the part for Jim Knowles.
“So there’s a lot of excitement around the defensive side of the ball. We’re going to have to play with depth, it’s gonna be a long season. But to me, it’s all about the mindset,” Day said this summer. “The talent is there and individually that’s where you try to get better during the spring. How do you get better a player technically, fundamentally, and as we head into the summer now it’s the chemistry. Now it’s the group coming together as a defense and building that identity.”
