Former Florida and Mississippi State head coach, turned ESPN analyst, Dan Mullen, shared his 2024 Big 12 predictions for the upcoming college football season. And he shared a twist that would make for a fascinating upcoming season in the Big 12.
Here is the graphic Mullen shared on social media.
So Mullen picked Oklahoma State to finish as the regular season champion, followed by Utah.
Despite having Oklahoma State finishing atop the Big 12 in the regular season, Mullen foresees Utah pulling off a win in the Big 12 title game to claim the conference crown and secure a College Football Playoff berth.
Theoretically, Mullen would believe that Oklahoma State would beat Utah during their September 21st match up in Stillwater, with the Utes getting revenge to end the season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
After these two, Mullen sees Kansas finishing third, ahead of Kansas State, followed by Iowa State.
Fellow ESPN analyst Rece Davis also made his Big 12 prediction recently, rolling with the Kansas Jayhawks to win the league.
On the latest episode of the “College GameDay Podcast, Davis said, “I’ll say in the Big 12, they’re not going to get the three-seed according to me, they will be the fourth seed. I think the Big 12 champion will be the Kansas Jayhawks. I mean, you think about what this would mean historically, their last conference title was in 1968 in the Big Eight.”
“This could be the wrongest prediction that ever wrongest, wronged if Jalon Daniels does not stay healthy,” Davis continued. “That has been a massive issue for the last couple of years now.”
The Big 12 season gets underway next Thursday, with four games on the schedule to get Week 1 underway. UCF hosts New Hampshire, Colorado takes on North Dakota State, Utah plays Southern Utah and Kansas welcomes in Lindenwood.
