Today is the opening day of the Hockey India League. The men’s circuit is back after a break of several years, and the women’s league will begin January 12th.
But here’s the question: where can you watch it here in the United States?
The HIL has inked agreements with DD Sports and Sony Ten in the Indian subcontinent, but, aside from a few streamed ancillary events like the player auction and today’s opening ceremony on YouTube, you can’t seemingly get matches in the United States.
I’m seeing a number of suggestions on social media, prompting people to use Virtual Private Network technology to tap into the Indian networks, but I wonder if you’re going to see games being bundled to U.S. networks like CBS Sports Network, Next Level, or beIN Sports.
I guess we’ll see; hopefully this will be before too long. It’s league that deserves as wide a coverage as possible.
